HONORARY PANTHER PROGRAM

The Fellowship of the Canis Panther has authorized up to ten honorary Canis Panther titles for the year of 2024. Any dog can apply, and the club will assess each dog based on his or her merits. The closer a dog is in ancestry, ability, conformation, and temperament to a Canis Panther, the more likely it will be to gain honorary status. Honorary titles should never exceed 5% of the extant Canis Panther population and the Fellowship will accept applications all year and judge annual applicants in November every year, and not all titles allotted have to be given. Applicants will be shown here with an explanation for why or why not they received the title. All grantees will be required to register their Honorary Canis Panther with an H in the name of the dog so that we can track them in the pedigrees. Failure to do so will be recorded and said dog will be removed from the H Registry unless corrected. The only registry we will use is the DRA, with our own records to verify the papers of dogs said to be Canis Panthers.

2024 Honorary Panther Title Applicants

Gothic of Para Bellum Kennel

Status: Approved

Reason: Gothic’s high Dobermann ancestry(49.9% from Panther and New Dobermann inlets) offers a reservoir of this key Canis Panther ingredient. She descends from Para Bellum’s Emma and Maverick Dobermann’s Anguss. Emma’s lineage includes Rock Of Ages Kennel’s Ripley and UKC Champion Dogo Argentino Debonair’s Hircine. Gothic’s thick bone and muzzle, loving, curious, and protective temperament, and good conformation make her a good example of breeding back to type, and represents a height in Para Bellum’s commitment to improving the Canis Panther.

Viper of Maverick

Status: Approved

Reason: Viper is 3/4 Canis Panther. She descends, like Gothic, from Emma. Emma was bred to Nor Cal Canis Panthers’ Heisenberg, descended from Klaus and Asia. Viper’s conformation is that of a Canis Panther, but bearing a thickness not seen in most Klaus dogs, she resembles Canis Panthers of old. Her temperament is fiercely loyal and protective.

Hell Hounds Guardians’ Raven

Status: Approved

Reason: Though not strictly a Canis Panther breeder, HHG has much overlap in our community. Raven is descended from Panther Dogs Kennel’s Freya, of Klaus and Angel, and Runamuck’s Chance, of unknown parentage, but presumably from Runamuck’s Leonidas, a Dobermann Dogue De Bourdeax mix. Raven only has a quarter non-Canis Panther ancestry, and she is close to being conformationally sound. Some of the conformation bias should be forgiven considering her uncropped ears and undocked tail will subtract from the untrained eye. Her deep chest and good muscle will serve her well, and her regal and slender yet robust build are befitting a true Panther Princess.
